Developing a Professional Online Presence

Online Presence

When it comes to developing an online presence and beginning to sell your services or products on the Internet, the number of options available can seem overwhelming. Not only do you need to decide on where to host your site and what platform to build it on, but you also need to decide what would be the best method for invoicing, delivery and contact management.

One of my clients helps entrepreneurs to establish themselves digitally. Coming from the corporate world, these entrepreneurs know it’s important that they put their best foot forward and have a high quality website right out of the gate. So I assist my client as she takes them through the process of establishing an online presence.

The first step is to decide where to host the website and what platform should be used. The process involves some research on the various hosting companies available, and presenting a list of the key capabilities for each, so the client could decide which would best fit their needs. The platform was an easy decision to make, the client wanted something easy enough for even a beginner to use and navigate, so WordPress was the way to go.

With the website basics out of the way, it was time to focus on how the site looked. The client had an idea of what the website should resemble, so I set out to find which WordPress themes could best meet those needs. After compiling a list of options, making sure to include both paid and free versions of themes, it didn’t take long to find the perfect theme.

Working with both my client and a graphic designer, we quickly began building the content of the website, setting up its search engine optimization (SEO), and creating the products. When it came to the products, the only decision to be made was which online shopping cart and delivery system to use. Because the client wanted a system that could do everything and not have to rely on mix of programs, we decided to use Infusionsoft. From there, it was a simple matter to setup the products and their online delivery sequences.

Within a few weeks, after thorough testing from myself and fellow CVA team members, it was ready for my client’s client to do a final test and walkthrough of everything that had been setup. The client was thrilled with the final result, and ready to show their newly established web presence to the world.

Building the foundation of an online presence, and making it easy for my clients to use it, is something I take pride in doing. Because of the different options available, I make it a priority to find a solution that suits my client’s needs, and helps to present them online in a professional manner.
